Bronze Marker Restoration and Granite Monument Sandblast Process

1. Bronze markers will naturally weather and patina after placement in a cemetery.  City Monument Company offers restoration or replacement of existing markers. A City Monument employee is removing the old finish and preparing the surface of the bronze for restoration to its original beauty. (See Picture Below)

2. After completely removing existing finish.  A base coat has been applied to begin the restoration process.  This hand sanding tool is used to remove any existing portion of the old finish. (See Picture Below)

3. After a new base finish coat has been applied, portions of the finish are removed to highlight the border, accent lines, and lettering. (See Picture Below)

4. The final step in the restoration process is the application of a protective finish coat.  It will preserve and protect the beauty of the bronze. (See Picture Below)

5. This is the finished product--restored to its original color and contrast. (See Picture Below)

6. Once the restoration is complete, the bronze must be remounted on a granite base.  This will ensure strength and durability. (See Picture Below)

9. For our granite products, we use a sandblast process.  Here, one of our craftsmen makes sure the rubber stencil is affixed properly to the granite. (See Picture Below)

10. Once the stencil is securely glued to the granite, the piece is ready to be sandblasted. (See Picture Below)
